Department Overview
Search Department is part of the AI Engineering Supervisory Department under AI & Data Division in Rakuten. Search Department focuses on Search, Discovery, and Navigation experience for users of Rakuten. We in Search Department help demand meet supply through our services that are engineered for scale, performance, and ease of use. We support 20 plus Rakuten Businesses across three different continents, 50 plus user functions and over a billion active users annually generating over two Billion dollars in revenue directly from us. Search Service Reliability & Engineering Group is responsible for delivering some of the Mission critical Rakuten Applications used by millions of users.

Rakuten Search group is constantly striving to challenge what existing search technologies can do and going beyond. We are looking for a highly motivated test and quality assurance engineers with commitment to customer satisfaction and a strong desire to create highest-quality Search platform for Rakuten Services.

Position Details
Responsibilities (includes but are not limited to):
End-to-end responsible for software and data quality assurance. Leverage on various testing strategies (be it automated test or manual test) to validate software functionality and performance, data accuracy and reliability.
Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, and quality assurance teams to identify testing requirements and develop comprehensive test plans.
Effectively report defects for test failures, and assist peers, and developers in triaging the test failures.
Drive continuous improvement in our testing processes through innovation and collaboration, leveraging automation and data-driven insights to enhance software quality and reliability.
Execute manual test scenarios for areas not yet automated, ensuring comprehensive test coverage and accuracy.

求める経験・スキル

Mandatory Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Proficiency in programming language Java.
- 5+ years of experience in Software Test Automation, with a strong background in designing and implementing test automation for micro-service architecture.
- Strong background in API testing, demonstrating the ability to design and execute comprehensive test scenarios to validate API functionality and performance.
- Experience in test automation frameworks like JUnit, TestNG, REST Assured and mock tools such as mockito, testcontainers.
- Good working knowledge of Linux commands and scripting.
- Practical experience with Kubernetes (K8s) and Docker, applying these containerization and orchestration tools for test automation.
- Proven experience with CI/CD tools (like Jenkins), integrating test automation seamlessly into continuous integration and deployment pipelines.

Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in performance testing methodologies and tools like JMeter, Gatling, Locust, or LoadRunner, including the ability to design, execute, and analyze performance tests for scalable and high-performance systems.
- Experience in managing black-box and white-box testing.
- Experience in quality assurance in Search/E-commerce domain.
- Experience in creating test plan.
- Proven record to improve product test coverage and effectiveness.
- Experience communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
- Fluent Japanese language skills (written and verbal) for effective communication with stakeholders in a bilingual environment.
