Department Overview
Rakuten Payment, Inc. Frontend System Development Department oversees development for all Rakuten Payment services. Our vision is to build and shape payment technologies that support our users’ daily lives today and in the future.
The Frontend System Development Department handles development for the Rakuten Pay mobile application, which serves as a gateway to all Rakuten Payment services and Rakuten’s FinTech ecosystem. Our mission, as a key driver of Rakuten Payment, Inc. services, is to attract and delight end-users with robust and convenient services.
The department developers cover a wide range of user services, including service sites, campaigns, and advertisements, as well as critical mobile app functions. This is achieved through a hybrid mobile app approach.

At the department, we are committed to maintaining and enhancing Rakuten shoppers’ experience by organizing autonomous cross-functional teams, able to take ownership of dedicated product areas within the shared app. Due to the growing responsibilities of our department, we are looking for a UI/UX Designer to help drive forward our innovative products and solutions across Rakuten Group, Inc. and Rakuten Payment, Inc.
Position Details
Position Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and growth of the Rakuten Pay mobile app
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members to understand business objectives and technical details, incorporating them into design and delivering value from inception to service release
- Lead design initiatives to proactively solve business challenges.
- Take ownership of dedicated product areas, committing to continuous improvement on product strategy and user experience
- Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the department and company
求める経験・スキル
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Proven knowledge and experience in mobile application design and prototyping
- A strong portfolio demonstrating this expertise is highly preferred
- Experience with industry-standard design tools (e.g., Figma)
- Experience in driving design improvements based on data analysis and user research findings
- Knowledge of design systems
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG)
- Demonstrated ability to align technical and business stakeholders to achieve project success
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience in Information Architecture (IA), information design, and customer journey mapping
- Experience in user research and user testing
- Knowledge of how AI and Machine Learning can be leveraged in product design
- Basic understanding of web and/or mobile development principles
